Valley Health Awarded 2025 Pallottine Foundation Healthy Community Grant to Enhance Infectious Disease Diagnosis and Treatment

Valley Health is proud to announce its selection as a recipient of the 2025 Pallottine Foundation Healthy Community Grant. This prestigious award includes $27,050 to support critical initiatives aimed at improving infectious disease diagnosis and treatment for recovery and unhoused populations across Lawrence County, Ohio, and Cabell, Wayne, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, and Putnam counties in West Virginia. This is the second year Valley Health has awarded a Pallottine Foundation grant.

The funding will play a vital role as Valley Health hosts approximately 30 medical outreach events throughout the service area in the next year. These events are set to utilize infectious disease testing kits and vaccines to help individuals identify health issues and  gain access to essential healthcare services. Specifically, the grant will facilitate the purchase of more than 700 testing kits for HIV, Hepatitis C, and syphilis, as well as fund more than 200 doses of lifesaving medication.

“This grant allows us to continue our mission of bridging the healthcare gap for some of the most vulnerable populations in our communities,” said Brett Wellman, FNP, Valley Health Chief Community Health Officer.   “With West Virginia having the highest rates of Hepatitis C per capita in the nation, addressing infectious diseases is paramount. We are committed to ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to achieve better health.”

Valley Health’s outreach initiatives are designed to raise awareness, provide screening, and deliver treatment, all while fostering an environment of compassion and understanding. By making these resources accessible, the organization aims to empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being.   Valley Health is honored to partner with the Pallotine Foundation in this important endeavor.
