Valley Health Celebrates 50 years of Commitment to Community Health

[January 15, 2025 – Huntington, WV]   – Valley Health Systems is excited to announce the celebration of its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of dedicated service to patients and communities across the region.  Founded in 1975, Valley Health has evolved from a small organization with three sites into a comprehensive healthcare system with more than 60 locations, providing vital health services to tens of thousands of patients each year..

Since its inception to address a critical shortage of primary care physicians, Valley Health Systems has remained committed to its mission of improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves. The organization has adapted and expanded its services to meet the ever-changing needs of the population, embracing advancements in medical technology and evolving into new models of patient care.

“We are incredibly proud of our 50 years of service providing comprehensive, high quality, affordable, and accessible primary care and related services,” said Dr. Mathew Weimer, President & CEO of Valley Health Systems. “This milestone is a testament to our talented and dedicated staff, unwavering support from the community, and the trust placed in us by our patients. As we reflect on our beginnings, we look forward to continuing our journey of providing quality healthcare for the next 50 years and beyond.”

While Valley Health Systems got its start in family practice, internal medicine, and dentistry service lines, the organization has introduced numerous programs and innovations aimed at enhancing patient care over the years, including behavioral health, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, otolaryngology/ENT, optometry, WIC, pediatric cardiology, and gastroenterology through organizational expansion, strategic partnerships, and a deep commitment to community health.  Valley Health also offers easy-to-access and affordable pharmacy services, ensuring complete care for patients.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, Valley Health Systems held an anniversary kick off at our Pea Ridge Health Center Wednesday, January 15th.   The 50th Anniversary celebration will continues with a yearlong campaign of 50 Acts of Kindness, a community talent show, our annual Back to School event, and a celebration of our amazing staff.    For further details on our 50th Anniversary campaigns, check out Valley Health’s social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Valley Health Systems extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a part in this journey—our staff, partners, and the community.
