After more than a decade of leadership, Dr. Scott Davis has stepped down from his role as Section Chief of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine, a position he held from 2016 to 2026. Dr. Davis will continue to serve patients as a valued member of the clinical team.
“Dr. Davis has been a cornerstone of our organization,” said Dr. Mathew Weimer, MD, President & CEO of Valley Health. “His leadership through a period of tremendous growth and change has strengthened our commitment to rural primary care and medical education. We are deeply grateful for his service and thankful he will continue caring for patients in our communities.”
Stepping into the role of Section Chief for Family Medicine and Internal Medicine is Dr. Ben Allan. Dr. Allan brings extensive leadership experience, including prior service as a Family Medicine Section Chief at SMMC, along with a strong background in financial management and academic medicine as an Adjunct Clinical Professor with Marshall University’s Physician Assistant Program.
“I am honored to take on this role and build upon the strong foundation established by Dr. Davis,” said Dr. Allan. “Valley Health has an exceptional team, and I look forward to advancing clinical excellence, supporting our providers, and continuing to expand access to high-quality care across the region.”
In Pediatrics, Dr. Daniel Whitmore has stepped down from his role as Section Chief after serving from 2011 to 2026. Dr. Whitmore will remain an integral part of the Valley Health clinical team.
“Dr. Whitmore’s steady leadership and dedication to patient care have had a lasting impact on our Pediatrics program,” said Dr. Matthew Christiansen, Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Medical Officer. “He has balanced complex clinical responsibilities while mentoring others and strengthening our care delivery. We are grateful for his contributions and continued service.”
