Valley Health Systems, Inc. celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, September 25, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Pea Ridge Medical Complex for two new service lines: the Heart & Vascular Center and the Center for Senior Wellness.
The additions mark a significant expansion of Valley Health’s mission to deliver high-quality, accessible, comprehensive care to the Tri-State region, offering advanced cardiology services alongside specialized geriatric care—all in one convenient location at 4270 US Route 60 in Huntington, WV.
The Heart & Vascular Center provides patients with expert cardiovascular care and advanced imaging services close to home. Led by an experienced team of providers with a combined 168 years of cardiovascular expertise—including cardiologists Dr. Daniel Snavely, Dr. Daniel Vilchez, and Dr. Mehrette Maru, along with nurse practitioners Laura Mayer, Jessica Smith, and Melissa Chapman—the center offers a full spectrum of diagnostic testing, vascular screenings, and imaging.
“At Valley Health, everything we do is grounded in our mission to provide access to quality care to all individuals. In adding our new Heart and Vascular Center, co-located and integrated with multiple other primary care and ancillary services, we are striving to enhance patient experience and optimize clinical quality for our entire patient population. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of illness and death across our region, and we are confident that this new service line will make a positive impact on health outcomes across our communities,” said Dr. Mathew Weimer, President and CEO of Valley Health Systems, Inc.
The Center for Senior Wellness introduces a new geriatrics service line dedicated to supporting the unique needs of older adults. Services include primary care, preventive screenings, medication management, dementia assessments, advanced care planning, palliative care, behavioral health support, and wellness programs that encourage active, independent living. The center is led by Dr. Cynthia Pinson, M.D., FAAFP, CMD, Section Chief of Geriatrics, a Huntington native with more than 25 years of experience in geriatrics, palliative care, and family medicine.
“Launching the Valley Health Center for Senior Wellness is an important step toward expanding access to specialized care for older adults across the Tri-State area,” said Dr. Pinson. “Our goal is to provide not only high-quality medical care, but also the resources seniors and their families need to live with dignity, independence, and quality of life.”
The ribbon cutting was attended by community leaders and Valley Health staff, all celebrating the Pea Ridge Medical Complex as a growing location for integrated, patient-centered healthcare.
Both centers are now accepting patients.
