Valley Health Systems welcomes Physician Assistant Mary Butcher through collaboration with Marshall Health Network at the Growing Pea Ridge Medical Complex

Valley Health Systems, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Mary Butcher, PA-C, through a collaboration with Marshall Health Network, to establish the Valley Health Sports Medicine service line at the Pea Ridge Medical Complex. This collaboration also includes Marshall Health orthopedic surgeons, who will begin seeing patients at the Pea Ridge campus in the coming weeks, further expanding access to comprehensive orthopedic care in the region.

Butcher joins Valley Health as a Physician Assistant providing orthopedic and musculoskeletal care for patients of all ages, working closely with Marshall Orthopaedics providers and surgeons as part of this integrated partnership. She will see patients at the Pea Ridge Medical Complex Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with walk-in appointments available Monday through Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. On-site X-ray services are available for added convenience.

Butcher brings extensive clinical experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, and surgical first assist, along with a strong commitment to patient-centered care. She has served in multiple orthopedic settings across the region, delivering hands-on evaluations, treatment planning, therapeutic procedures, and post-operative care. Her background includes independent clinic management, hospital rounding, wound care, diagnostic interpretation, and assisting in a wide range of orthopedic surgeries, including total joint replacement, arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, fracture care, and wound management.

“We are excited to welcome Mary to the Valley Health family,” said Dr. Mathew Weimer, President & CEO of Valley Health Systems. “Her skill, compassion, and extensive orthopedic experience enhance the services we provide to patients at our Pea Ridge campus and throughout our growing network.”

Butcher holds a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Charleston and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Canisius College. She is NCCPA board-certified and maintains active certifications in ACLS and BLS. Prior to joining Valley Health, she worked at Thomas Health System Physician Partners and continues to provide care through Marshall Orthopaedics. Her clinical background spans pediatric through geriatric care, making her a valuable asset to Valley Health’s integrated, multidisciplinary services.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Valley Health and contribute to the exceptional care already offered at the Pea Ridge Medical Complex,” Butcher said. “My goal is to provide compassionate, thorough, and accessible orthopedic care that helps patients move better, recover faster, and return to the activities they love.”

Mary lives in Huntington with her husband, Brandon, and their four children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being active in her church, working out, reading, gaming together as a family, and occasionally binge-watching her favorite shows.

The addition of Butcher supports Valley Health’s continued expansion at the Pea Ridge Medical Complex, which currently offers an on-site pharmacy, family medicine, pediatric and adult cardiology, behavioral health, OB/GYN, senior care, and imaging services, including ultrasound, X-ray, and advanced imaging. The campus also features physical therapy services through Huntington Physical Therapy. Hospice of Huntington’s Adult Day Program operated through Tristate LifeCare is planned as a future collaboration.
