Valley Health Systems, Inc. is proud to announce that Katherine “Kate” Steele, MD, will begin seeing patients on June 22, 2026, at the new Valley Health – 7th Avenue location, further strengthening a newly established partnership with the Cabell-Huntington Health Department to expand access to care in the community.
Located inside the Cabell-Huntington Health Department at 703 7th Avenue in Huntington, Valley Health – 7th Avenue represents an innovative collaboration designed to improve access to preventive healthcare services while reducing barriers which link patients to primary care in a convenient, community-based setting.
Through this partnership, Dr. Steele, a family medicine physician, will be on site three days a week—Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m and provide acute primary care services at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, supporting patients with immediate healthcare needs and connecting them to appropriate ongoing care and community resources as needed. Services will include focused care related to Hepatitis C, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among others.
Dr. Steele, a board-certified family physician, brings extensive experience in outpatient primary care, inpatient hospital medicine, and medical education. She has served as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Marshall University since 2016 and has a strong history of collaboration with the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, where she previously provided family planning services, supervised Marshall Medical Outreach for a number of years and has worked alongside community partners to improve public health outcomes.
“Joining Valley Health at the 7th Avenue location is an exciting opportunity to continue serving our community in a capacity that allows me to reach patients in a way that a standard clinical practice does not,” said Dr. Steele. “This partnership will allow us to collaborate with community partners and expand our ability for outreach which we hope to improve overall public health.”

This collaboration combines Valley Health’s clinical expertise with the Cabell-Huntington Health Department’s established public health infrastructure, creating a streamlined, patient-centered approach that addresses both prevention and treatment in one location. The initiative also serves as a pilot model for future partnerships aimed at improving community health outcomes across the region.
Dr. Steele lives in Huntington and enjoys spending time with her family, pretending she has a green thumb and cheering on the Herd in her off work hours.
