Valley Health Systems’ pharmacy team is growing with the addition of Matthew Walker, PharmD. Dr. Walker will be serving patients at Valley Health Wayne and Valley Health East Huntington, expanding access to high-quality pharmacy services for the community.
Dr. Walker is a licensed pharmacist in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky with nearly a decade of experience in pharmacy leadership and patient care. Most recently, he served as a Pharmacy Manager with CVS in Huntington, WV, where he supervised daily operations, trained staff and interns, and ensured regulatory compliance while focusing on patient-centered service. He began his career as a pharmacy intern and advanced steadily to pharmacist, manager, and now provider within Valley Health’s expanding team.
Walker earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 2016. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his dedication to excellence and mentorship, including being named Marshall University Preceptor of the Year (2019, 2022) and receiving the CVS Paragon Award (2019, 2022) for outstanding performance and leadership.
In addition to dispensing medications and managing pharmacy operations, Walker has extensive experience in immunization delivery, medication counseling, and patient education. He is certified by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) in pharmacy-based immunization delivery and maintains current Basic Life Support/CPR certification.

Walker lives in Ceredo with his wife, son and two cats. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys play golf, traveling, and spending time with family in his off work hours.
