Valley Health, in partnership with Enslow Park Presbyterian Church and more than 50 dedicated community organizations, proudly hosted its 4th Annual Kids event Saturday August 9th. The outreach celebration served more than 400 local children and families with free backpacks, essential school supplies, and a day filled with fun and connection.
This year’s event, themed “Summer Jam,” included Zumba demonstrations, an energetic dance performance by the Marshall University Dance Team, and live music. Attendees also enjoyed free pizza, face painting, puppet shows, and back-to-school haircuts generously donated by Hair by Kailee. The Huntington Police and Fire Departments joined in with interactive visits, while children delighted in making yogurt parfaits and exploring dozens of resource booths aimed at supporting families throughout the school year. Attendance at the event was estimated to exceed 600 people.
“Each year, our goal is to help children start school with confidence and provide families with the resources they need to thrive,” said Amanda Buell, Valley Health Events and Experience Administrator. “Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the excitement in the air reminds us why we do this. We couldn’t do it without our incredible partners and community support.”
This annual event continues to grow, bringing together diverse partners and volunteers committed to making a positive difference for children in the Huntington area. With the generous contributions of sponsors, volunteers, and local businesses, families left equipped for a successful year and connected to valuable local services.
Valley Health is already planning for next year’s event, scheduled for August 8, 2026, and looks forward to another day of giving back and celebrating the community’s youngest learners.
