Valley Health’s Commitment to Cardiac Excellence Earns National Recognition

When patients walk through the doors of the Pea Ridge Heart and Vascular Center, they can now do so with another layer of confidence knowing the facility has earned national accreditation for its nuclear cardiology services — a distinction that recognizes quality, safety, and excellence in heart imaging care.

Valley Health Systems, Inc. announced that the Pea Ridge Heart and Vascular Center has received a three-year accreditation in Nuclear Cardiology from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality through accreditation.   The accreditation recognizes the center’s myocardial perfusion imaging program and confirms the facility meets rigorous national standards for patient care, staff expertise, imaging quality, safety, and operational excellence.

“Nuclear cardiology plays a critical role in identifying heart disease early and helping providers make accurate, lifesaving decisions for patients,” said Daniel Snavely, M.D., Head of Cardiology for Valley Health Systems, Inc. “This accreditation reflects the tremendous dedication of our entire cardiovascular team to delivering the highest level of care using advanced technology, evidence-based practices, and a patient-centered approach. We are proud to provide this caliber of cardiac imaging services close to home for the people of the Tri-State.”

According to the IAC, facilities earning accreditation undergo a comprehensive evaluation process that includes a detailed self-assessment and extensive review by a panel of medical experts. The process examines the technical and operational components of the facility, including representative case studies and final reports.

“This achievement demonstrates Valley Health’s ongoing commitment to bringing exceptional healthcare services and advanced diagnostics to our region,” said Dr. Mathew Weimer, President & CEO of Valley Health Systems, Inc. “Our patients deserve access to nationally recognized heart and vascular care without having to leave the community they call home. We are incredibly proud of Dr. Snavely and the entire Pea Ridge Heart and Vascular Center team for earning this important accreditation.”

Valley Health also extends special thanks to Juanita Dempsey, Director of Cardiology and Imaging, and Lori Gibson, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, for their extensive work, leadership, and coordination throughout the accreditation process. Their dedication and attention to detail played a vital role in helping the Pea Ridge Heart and Vascular Center achieve this national recognition.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, making access to high-quality cardiac imaging and early detection services increasingly important. Nuclear cardiology procedures help physicians diagnose and evaluate heart conditions, including coronary artery disease and other potentially life-threatening disorders.

The Pea Ridge Heart and Vascular Center is located at 4270 U.S. Route 60 in Huntington and provides comprehensive cardiovascular services to patients across the Tri-State region.
