Valley Health Expands to Point Pleasant with New Location- Welcomes Three New Providers

Huntington, West Virginia [July 20, 2023] – Valley Health Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce a new health center in Point Pleasant.   The new Valley Health – Point Pleasant QuickCare is located inside Fruth Pharmacy at 2501 Jackson Ave, Point Pleasant, WV 25550, and opened on July 10, 2023.   This new location continues Valley Health’s mission of providing quality health care to everyone.    The Point Pleasant – Fruth location features two exam rooms a laboratory and will serve as an urgent care clinic.  Three new Valley Health providers are seeing patients at this location:

  • Physician Assistant Mary Grace Workman
  • Nurse Practitioner Whitney Watterson
  • Nurse Practitioner Kathy Kirby

All three providers are graduates of Marshall University, grew up in the Point Pleasant area and are ready to serve their communities, providing quality health care to all.

Physician Assistant Mary Grace Workman received her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies from Marshall University and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.  She is a native of Point Pleasant and is very excited about the opportunity to give back to her hometown.

“As someone who grew up in a small town, I greatly value community and I recognize the importance of reaching the underserved areas. Like Valley Health, I also believe that every person deserves quality healthcare in their community. I am thankful and excited to be a small part of bringing this service to the town I call home. People are my passion. Patients are the heart of why I chose this profession. I am passionate about my work as a PA because it provides the opportunity to serve and love others, while doing everything I can to leave them better than they came, “said Workman.

Nurse Practitioner Whitney Watterson received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Marshall University and is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.    She has a background in orthopedics, wound care, open heart recovery, and emergency care.   Watterson says she is dedicated to providing quality care and ensuring open-line communication between all members of the health-care team and patients.    “I’m excited to join Valley Health and play a role in the mission of providing quality care in my community and neighborhood,” Watterson said.   She lives in West Columbia, West Virginia and enjoys cheering on her four children heir sports endeavors, raising livestock and baking.

Nurse practitioner Kathy Jo Kirby has more than seven years of clinical experience in diverse settings including neonatal ICU and oncology.    Kirby is dedicated to providing holistic high quality care and is passionate about building relationships with patients and families to create a sense of trust and care. Kirby says, “It is an honor to be returning to my hometown and provide care to our community.  I am so excited to be joining Valley Health and to have the opportunity to return to my hometown to provide care. QuickCare aligns with my goal of providing the members of the community with a convenient and readily available access to health care when they need it most!”

Kirby lives in Point Pleasant and enjoys spending time with family and gardening in her spare time.

Valley Health Point Pleasant – Fruth will serve patients:

Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
